第1回ネイティブアメリカン音楽大賞では最優秀男性アーティストと最優秀フルート奏者の両方を受賞したカルロス・ナカイ。今や名実ともにネイティブアメリカン音楽界を代表するアーティストになりました。87年、セレスティアル・ハーモニーズというマイナーレーベルから出たこのディスクはコロラド州はリンディスファーン教会という所で録音されました。
ユート族の血を引くナカイは毎年7月に行われる部族の大切な儀式であるサンダンスに敬意を込めてこのディスクを作ったそうです。
他のＣＤ以上に歌、ラトル、ドラム、イーグルボーン・ウィスルなどを用い独特の効果を生み出しています。演奏される曲のほとんどは彼の作曲によるもので、彼の才能の非凡さを改めて認識させられます。(53:34)
